The event started with a presentation by the CTO of the Costa Rican group, Anexus, - Eduardo Garcia. His keynote speech entitled, “Investing in Community is a Good Business” focused on energetic development and community activities.

The Costa Rican Drupal community that began with only a few people and persisted in continuously organizing community activities that are useful to businesses, is now a bigger group . And as the CTO still heads the group, they are able to historically increase in number. Their program was something we can apply in Japan’s day-to-day community activities.

The seminar was held in three rooms with individual themes. Eduardo Garcia (Enzo), who carried out the earlier keynote lecture, also presented "Drupal 8 Development: Effective and Efficient with Drupal Console”.

Command line tool Drush which has been a popular tool for Drupal development is suited to be replaced soon by a new tool called Drupal Console and he (Enzo) is in charge of developing it. From the standpoint of Drupal Console developers, it is useful and easy to understand.

Tom Tran's FFWagency.com from Vietnam with services that have been developed in Drupal7, gave a demonstration and technical description of DRAGNFLY. DRAGNFLY is a service that can make a drag-and-drop site even if there is no knowledge of HTML and CSS similar to services like Jimdo and Drupal garden. This kind of technology and module are very useful and are now even used in the back-end services.

After the first day ended, there was an exchange meeting full of fun. The participants had the chance to talk and unwind at nearby restaurants over beer after the event. This kind of community activity and community management can be a very good information exchange reference for our community in Japan.

The increased  participation of many countries at the Drupal Camp Manila 2016 was such an impressive event. Initially, the Drupal Pilipinas team was launched in order to train the Drupal engineers two years ago. As the number of participants of Drupal Apprentice Program increases, Community has become an emerging subject. Since this has become a community-driven activity,  we think that this is a good model for the Japanese community.
